The Father Vandebilt 4th Degree Assembly 2322 was recognized as a FY 23-24 STAR Assembly. We are proud to announce our 4th Degree Assembly based right here at St. Bernadette has been awarded the Beinville Province Assembly of the Year. The Beinville Province consists of the states of Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama.

The Diocese Filipino Celebration Mass was held on Sunday, September 29th. The celebration was in honor of two Filipino Saints, Lorenzo Ruiz and Pedro Calungsod. There was also Filipino food and music, along with dancing, afterwards.
Also, Former District Master Kelly Luke presented Father Simon Peter with the Knights of Columbus ERE donation to be used for training of lay Catechists for the Dioce
Faithful Navigator of Assembly 2322 and Kell Luke, Past District Master were both recognized at the recent 4th Degree Quarterly Meeting. Mark was awarded the Knights of Columbus Order of Merit and Assembly 2322 was the District Assembly of the Year and Kell was awarded for his 4 year term as District Master.

Congratulations to the newest St. Bernadette Father Vandebilt Assembly Fourth Degree Sir Knights. These Sir Knights became members of the Father Vandebilt 4th Degree Assembly 2322 during the August 17, 2024, Exemplification Ceremony at St. Bernadette.
The Forth Degree Knights of the Houma/Thibodaux Diocese including members of Assembly 2322 participated in the 29th Annual Native American Mass for the Feast of St. Kateri Tekakwitha at the Our Lady of Good Voyage KC Home for Holy Family Catholic Church in Dulac on Friday, July 12, 2024.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha is the first Native American to be recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church. She was born in 1656, in the Mohawk village of Ossernenon. At age 19, Kateri Tekakwitha converted to Catholicism, taking a vow of chastity and pledging to marry only Jesus Christ.
According to legend, Kateri was very devout and would put thorns on her sleeping mat. She often prayed for the conversion of her fellow Mohawks. According to the Jesuit missionaries that served the community where Kateri lived, she often fasted and when she would eat, she would taint her food to diminish its flavor. On at least one occasion, she burned herself. Such self-mortification was common among the Mohawk.
Kateri was very devout and was known for her steadfast devotion. She was also very sickly. Her practices of self-mortification and denial may not have helped her health. Sadly, just five years after her conversion to Catholicism, she became ill and passed away at age 24, on April 17, 1680.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 21, 2012. She is the patroness of ecology and the environment, people in exile and Native Americans.

At Father Vandebilt Fourth Degree Assembly 2322 , we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow and develop, regardless of their background or circumstances. That's why we offer a variety of patriotic programs and services designed to help individuals understand our service to our church and country. Above, several members of the Houma/Thibodaux Diocese Fourth Degree served an Honor Guard for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi Mass and the presentation of the Raphael Songe Memorial Scholarship to Madison Chauvin, Emily Pellegrin and Antoinette Savoie at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on June 2, 2024. On Wednesday May 15, 2024, Faithful Navigator Mark Bascle presented Gracean Schexnayder of Vandebilt Catholic High School with the Patriotic Medallion Award and a $100 check from The Father August W Vandebilt Assembly of the Fourth Degree.
Note: Ava Champagne of H. L. Bourgeois High School was also awarded the Patriot Medallion Award. Unfortunately, Ms. Champagne was not available for a photograph.

Note: The District of Louisiana Fourth Degree has as its prime objective, the promotion of Patriotism to our youth. In order to promote these ideas, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of Louisiana has minted a beautiful medallion for presentation for those who display and exemplify Patriotism in their everyday lives. We further believe that unless we promote Patriotism to our youth, then we may have youths becoming adults who do not have just knowledge of our country’s Patriotism. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of the District of Louisiana are anxious to teach the ideas of Patriotism through the LOUISIANA MEDALLION PROGRAM.
On May 8th at the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mandeville, LA. mass for the school, members of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus for the Louisiana District presented awards to the Patriotic Essay Winner. Miss Aubrey Etheridge won $200 for the Diocese Of New Orleans Northshore and $500 for the winner of the entire Louisiana District.
Note: Each year the Knights of Columbus offer an international Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest. This contest encourages today’s youth to be more connected to their community and their faith. The goal of this program is to involve young Catholics in grades 8 to 12 in civic discourse and instill in them religious and life-affirming values. Entrants are judged on grammar, style, and how clearly, they present the theme in a way that showcases creativity, imagination and overall development of the topic.
Faithful Navigator Mark Bascle presents winning checks to St. Bernadette 7th Grader Julie Dupre. Julie won $100 for her essay from the Vandebilt Assembly and was awarded $200 as the Houma/Thibodaux Diocese winner. Julie's essay also finished second in the State of Louisiana. Congratulations Julie!!
